Dear Rabbi, I was born into a catholic family from Brazil. My whole family unfortunately still believes in the non sense of christianity, aside from me, I was able to see the Emet, Baruch HaShem! It’s hard for me to know that my father, mother, siblings, aunts, cousins, everyone from my lineage still believes in something fake but worst than that, it’s idolatry. My last name is Pinto de Abreu, and I have a feeling that we may be descendants of Jews, given by my last name, the Jews who fled from Portugal to Brazil during the Spanish Inquisition, and many ended up losing their roots and maybe through intermarriage started adopting catholicism. My question is this, in a situation like this, how can we save our family members from punishment? Are we able to intervene for them after they have passed? What’s your advice in dealing with family members who are lost to save them from eternal punishment? It’s tough to see your loved ones living an absolute lie 😔
