Shalom Rav,
I have watched many of your shiurim and I recall you stating that Gehinom is longer than twelve months, and that it is a great misconception that for most people it is a maximum of 12 months. Recently, I came across a halacha in Ben Ish Hai (Year One, Vayechi, 14) in which he states that in Baghdad, they would prematurely stop saying Kaddish in the first week of the twelfth month for the deceased to indicate that the deceased is not a full Rasha, and that he will not stay in Gehinnom for the full twelve month sentence that a Rasha would receive. I just found the idea to be a bit confusing given what I’ve learned from your shiurim previously and was hoping you could clarify. Thank you!
