Hello Rabbi, I’m a Baal teshuva looking to go to yeshiva. I spoke to a Rabbi who attended AISH HaTorah and he told me that they learn Talmud with the students without ArtScroll and they expect students to be able to learn without it (it seems that they look down on it). I watched your videos defending Artscroll, where you warned Baalei teshuva to use it , as it would take too long to complete even a single book by translating Aramaic and Hebrew Rashi. The rabbi himself still hasn’t completed the shas, and as far as I know, most of the orthodox rabbis in my community have not (ironic as they look down on ArtScroll learning). My question is: even if someone was able to understand the Hebrew/Aramaic, would it still be better to first complete the shas in English (1st language)? Thank you!
